In the second of our In the Footsteps series of interviews Sam Carter interviews Nic Jones.
Nic Jones is a towering figure of British Folk Revival and has been a major influence on the folk scene since the early 1970s. Sam Carter has been described by Jon Boden as "The finest English-style finger-picking guitarist of his generation" and won Best Newcomer at the 2010 BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards.
In part one of our interview, Nic & Sam discuss their initial reluctance to talk t0 their audiences, Nic’s favourite day job as a lifeguard and being back on stage with Belinda O’Hooley & his son Joe Jones. Also discussed are his plans for a new Nic Jones record and one of his most memorable songs, Ruins by the Shore.
Recorded in Devon on 8 August 2012. Many thanks to Julia & Nic Jones for hosting the interview.
