Uiscedwr - (or should that be Fish Cat Door.....)

Posted by Louise Parmakis 12 October 2010

According to Anna Esselmont, when she first met Cormac Byrne when they were students at Manchester University in 2002 she knew that they would form a band together. 8 years, 1 serious illness, numerous operations and a wedding later, Uiscedwr are still going strong and creating some of the most innovative folk music around today, drawing on classical, rock, world, jazz and just about any other musical force that takes their fancy.

With Anna on the fiddle and vocals, Cormac on the bodhran and alternating between James Hickman and Nick Waldock on guitar, Uiscedwr will give you an exhaustingly energetic show and are not to be missed.

Oh, and for those of you who are wondering how to pronounce Uiscedwr (which means “water” in both Welsh and Irish), take the words Fish Cat Door - just delete the first letter of the first word then the last letter of the second and you’ve got it!
