Twelfth Day - Twelfth Day

the bright young folk review

A slightly unusual combination of fiddle and harp on very fine and beautifully presented album from the duo Twelfth Day. There are six tracks, three traditional songs and three instrumentals by either Catriona Price (Fiddle, Vocals) or Esther Swift (Harp, Vocals). All played in a really distinctive style and a lively open fresh style it is.

Fresh because of the quite unique sound and the wonderful playing has a keen, open air quality. The shared vocals on the songs have a similar easy outdoor feel.

It would be unfair to pick any track as a favourite, they are all good but the first the instrumental "Curry" and the second, a traditional Northumbrian song are enough to tell you how excellent the rest will be.
