For me.. has to be Captain Hook - possibly the scariest Disney villain from my childhood and especially in Hook the film! Tick Tock.. Tick Tock..

My favorite fictional captain has to be Captain Jack Aubrey....not only an excellent naval officer but as wikipedia states
"a great lover of music and player of the violin. He is generally accompanied by his friend and shipmate Stephen Maturin on the cello."
I think he would be fun to have at a session.
(plus the scene in the book where he meets his friend Maturin for the first time always makes me chuckle.)

Captain Barbossa from Pirates of the Caribbean is rather awesome :D

my favourite fictional captain is Captain Jack Harkness from Torchwood. Oh so camp yet heroic and clever.

Anne Dunn

Captain Haddock. Why drop the F-bomb when a ’billions of blistering blue barnacles’ will suffice?

Richard Steele

Captain Jack Sparrow - simply for being played by the delightful Johnny Depp - need I say more?!?

Captain Pugwash, every time, and of course Master Mate! Can’t beat a good hornpipe ;)

Captain Pugwash. Yes, admittedly he’s a little bit stupid, but he still manages to win the day more often than not and he does have a wonderfully folky theme tune!

Captain Jack Sparrow for me. All that wonky eyeliner, the leaning backwards running away, the interesting hair! Oh yes.

Definitely Captain Mal Reynolds AKA ’Captain Tight-pants’ from Firefly/Serenity!
For his quick wit, fast draw of the gun and that despite not always showing it he really loves his ship and crew.

Got to love Captain William Kidd. Either an incredibly brutal pirate or one of the most incompetent privateer captains ever (depending on who you believe) who’s responsible for large areas of land being dug up in a search for his (probably mythical) treasure. Plus I love the various versions of the song of his life and he was once depicted as a goat in a kiddie’s cartoon!

Favourite Captain = Captain Jack. The song, that is, by Billy Joel, not the actual ’Captain Jack’ who inspired it - a drug dealer in early 1970s New York who the singer used to observe distributing heroin to suburban teenagers. Grim subject matter but a gorgeous, sad and angry song.

Old Tom

Captain Snort, the man in charge of Pippin Fort in Camberwick Green. Not least because he insisted on the students at his 1960s ’military academy’ dressing in redcoat uniforms, down to the natty white pigtailed wigs.

For me, it has to be Captian James Cook. A good all round Yorkshireman with a very impressive ship, the Endevour. I can remember being taken to see the replica in Whitby, what a sight for a young lass!

Kath Hill

Blisterubg Barnacles it’s got to be Captain Pugwash & his Nautical nitwits!

The greatest captain in computer game history, Captain Comic. To this day I still consider birds to fall into two categories - shy and brave - and I always run away at the first sign of a beach ball.
